World Indigenous Peoples Day

Learners participated in a creative traditional-inspired headgear activity, bringing together cultural appreciation, imagination, and sustainability. The activity provided learners with an opportunity to explore traditional designs and express their understanding of diverse cultures through art.
Learners creatively transformed recyclable and reusable materials available at home into unique and colourful headgear. Items such as old newspapers, cardboard, paper bags, fabric scraps, ribbons, wool, and other safe reusable materials were given a new purpose through their imaginative creations.
The activity encouraged learners to think creatively while understanding the importance of responsible resource use, recycling, and reducing waste. It also helped them appreciate the richness and diversity of traditional cultures and the stories reflected through their art and designs.
The vibrant collection of headgear showcased the learners’ creativity, cultural curiosity, resourcefulness, and commitment to sustainable practices, proving that meaningful art can be created without purchasing new materials.
