Janmashtami Celebration

Janmashtami Celebration

The Kindergarten section of Bunts Sangha’s Arathi Shetty International School joyfully celebrated Janmashtami and Dahi Handi with enthusiasm and devotion. Children arrived dressed in beautiful traditional attire, with some adorably dressed as Radha and Krishna, adding charm and authenticity to the occasion.
The celebration began with offering flowers to Lord Krishna’s idol, followed by melodious songs and lively dances dedicated to the festival. The highlight of the day was the Dahi Handi event, where one of the children joyfully burst the matki, spreading excitement and cheers all around. As part of the tradition, curd was distributed as prasad to the children, symbolizing love and unity.

In addition to the cultural festivities, each class engaged in a specially planned Janmashtami-themed art activity that allowed them to explore their creativity while learning about the festival’s significance:
Prep School – Krishna Headgear Making: Children crafted vibrant Krishna headbands using colourful paper, sequins, and peacock feathers. They proudly wore their creations, feeling connected to the playful spirit of Lord Krishna. FS 1 – Sponge Dabbing on Krishna Silhouette: Little artists used sponges dipped in bright paints to dab around a Krishna-shaped silhouette. This simple yet engaging technique helped them develop fine motor skills while producing beautiful, textured artworks.
FS 2 – Matki Decoration: Children decorated small clay pots (matkis) with glitter, mirror pieces, colourful stickers, and ribbons. This hands-on activity gave them a deeper understanding of the Dahi Handi tradition and enhanced their sense of aesthetics.
Stage 1 – Depicting Dahi Handi through Finger Painting: Using their fingers dipped in various colours, children created lively scenes of the Dahi Handi celebration. This sensory-rich activity encouraged imagination and allowed them to visually narrate the joy of the festival.
The day was filled with devotion, creativity, and festive spirit, leaving the children with cherished memories of this special occasion. The combination of cultural rituals, joyful performances, and hands-on activities ensured that the essence of Janmashtami was truly experienced by all.
