World Poetry Day and World Puppetry Day

World Poetry Day and World Puppetry Day

Our celebration of World Poetry Day was a vibrant and enriching experience, where learners explored the beauty, rhythm, and diversity of poetry in a truly engaging way. The day began with an introduction to different types of poems. Learners discovered the unique structures and styles of forms such as haikus, limericks, free verse, and acrostic poems. Through interactive discussions and readings, they developed an appreciation for how words can express emotions, tell stories, and paint vivid pictures in the reader’s mind.
Inspired by the poems they read, learners then brought poetry to life through art. They created beautiful drawings that reflected the imagery and feelings evoked by their chosen poems. Each artwork showcased their creativity and personal interpretation, turning words into visual masterpieces.
Adding another layer of excitement, learners also engaged in a hands-on activity where they crafted puppets of various kinds. Using simple materials, they designed and created unique characters, which were later used to perform short poetic expressions. This activity not only enhanced their understanding of poetry but also encouraged storytelling, collaboration, and imaginative play.
The celebration was a wonderful blend of literacy and creativity, allowing learners to connect with poetry in meaningful and joyful ways. World Poetry Day truly became a platform for self-expression, artistic exploration, and the celebration of young minds
